Bible Promises to Live By for Women

This book is by Katherine J. Butler. It has a flexible linen-textured cover and is a small compact size. There are several topics listed in the table of contents:

Topics are easy to navigate because they are in alphabetical order in the book. The topic sections include a short encouraging paragraph and several scriptures in the New Living Translation. Occasionally, you come across a scripture in an enlarged and elegant font. There are 500 Biblical promises in this book!

I really like this! It is a quick reference for encouraging scriptures. Read it from start to finish or look up applicable topics as you need them! It would fit in purses for something to keep with you while you are on the go. It would be a great gift for someone who is new to scriptures or for someone who needs some encouragement. I would highly recommend this book.

July Cards of Encouragement

I would like to send YOU a card of encouragement in the mail!

Everyone loves to receive good old fashioned mail every once in awhile. With our age of internet and texting, personal mail is rare. So, every month I am going to send out cards of encouragement to whoever sends me their mailing address. I know that this means you have to trust me with your mailing address. For those who know me personally or who have been following my blog for awhile that will not be a problem. Please know that no one other than myself will have access to your personal information. Also, this is just an experiment. I will see how it goes for the next few months and then decide if I will continue doing this or not.

If you are interested in receiving a card from me, please click the link below and take a few minutes to fill out the information survey. This will record your mailing address so that I can mail you a card. Other questions are asked to help me customize the card to you and so that I know how you came to follow my blog. Feel free to share prayer requests, goals, areas that you need encouragement, etc. I will post this link every month so that if something changes, you can edit your information.

Who You Are

This book by John Croyle is a story of second chances and subtitled: “Defying the Circumstances that Define Us.” It is the story of how Big Oak Ranch in Alabama was founded; it’s purpose, vision, and continuous mission. Croyle shares hard lessons learned over his lifetime. He shares difficult to hear and shocking stories of the children who come to the ranch. Every child who comes to the ranch has been abused, traumatized, neglected, abandoned, etc. They all need a chance to have security, love, care, support. Over the past 40 years, Big Oak Ranch has impacted the lives of 2,000+ children.

As the reader, I felt like I was a part of a personal conversation with the author. Croyle weaves scripture and Biblical truths throughout this book to encourage the reader and to explain the ranch mission, the choices he has made over the years, and how he has encouraged the children in his care. He also encourages daily Bible reading, prayer, and Holy Spirit guidance as important life elements that can help anyone face the circumstances in their lives. He also clearly defines character traits that the ranch hopes to instill in the children as they mature and heal from their past wounds (physical, emotional, and spiritual) I would recommend this book to teenagers and adults who have faced difficult circumstances or for those who want to be more aware of what some children face in life.

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission I am required to disclose that B&H Books provided this book for free in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

God Cares About The Small Stuff!

This morning I was doing dishes when I noticed that my youngest daughter Audrey was playing with my car keys. I didn’t really think anything of it. I just continued on with my morning routine. After the dishes; I checked my e-mail, got both girls and myself dressed and ready for the day, made Kendal’s lunch, packed the book bag, Bible study bag, and diaper bag, took the dog out, etc. When it was finally time to leave to take Kendal to school; I had Audrey and all of the bags listed above (as well as my purse) in my arms. I realized that I did not have my keys. Without really thinking about it I went back to the kitchen and looked around where I saw Audrey playing with them. I opened a cabinet and found them laying behind a bag of sugar. Then I proceeded to get the girls and all the bags in the car. As I was driving; I realized how smoothly the morning went and just how much God cares about me.

With my husband out of the country; I am left doing all of the household and children responsibilities by myself. When my husband is home he usually is able to help but we usually still end up rushing out the door and running late. When I can’t find my keys at the last minute that usually sets me off into a rushing panic (especially if I am supposed to be somewhere by a certain time). I realized in the car that in all of the times I haven’t been able to find my keys…I have never looked in a kitchen cabinet while looking for them. Yet, today I did because of a brief moment of seeing Audrey playing with them. I can clearly imagine the panic I would have been in if I was not able to find them this morning. Today, I was already running a little bit late. If I had not been able to find my keys, I would have had no way of getting Kendal to school and myself to the Bible study that I facilitate.

Some people may brush this experience off as “no big deal” but I am truly blessed to love and serve a God who cares about me. It is because of moments like these that I can trust God when I start to worry or get anxious about things that are going wrong or not according to plan. We are told in the Bible to:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Isn’t that encouraging???
