This book from: the editors of Faithgirlz! and Girls’ Life magazine is subtitled: “50 Bedroom DIYS You Can Do In A Weekend.” The purpose of this book is to inspire girls to be creative and unique while designing their room. It includes ideas, advice, project & craft instructions, photos, etc. The chapter titles are as follows:

• Chapter 3: Sculpt Your Style
• Chapter 4: Smarten Up Your Study Space
• Chapter 5: Dress Up Your Bedroom
• Chapter 6: Wake Up Your Walls

• Chapter 8: Glam Up Your Vanity
• Chapter 9: Everything Else
• Chapter 10: Make It Yours

Other than the publisher and editors, there is nothing specifically Christian about this book. This book seems to be geared to the pre-teen age, however, there are great ideas for girls of any age (or moms who will be designing for their girls). The design ideas are definitely not childish. I love the simplicity of the projects and the step by step directions that will make it easy for girls to actually do it themselves. I really liked all of the photos but I was hoping for more photos of complete room designs. There are a few but most of the photos are of specific crafts or projects that do not really give the big picture of a complete room design. Most of these crafts and projects could fit into any type of room design if the right colors and patterns are chosen. Some of them may need parental help and guidance depending on the age of the girl(s). I wanted to read this book because my 8 year old daughter wants her own room. This summer we are planning on allowing her to move into our office space. Part of the room will still be used as office space (desk, computer/printer, bookshelves) but we will allow her to have most of the space for herself. I think that this book will give her some ideas on how to make the space her own. And there will be some fun summer time activities for us to work on!
