Praying Scripture: Galatians (Ch. 5)

Read: Galatians–Chapter 5

Key Verses: Galatians 5:19-24 “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.”

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending Christ to set me free. Help me to stand firm in my faith as I grow in righteousness. I pray that you will give me opportunities to show my faith by sharing Christ’s love. Lord, I know that there are times when I am led astray and I follow temptation into sin. I pray that you will continue to convict my heart and draw be back to you in those times. Please help me to continue to run the race toward being Christlike. I pray that you will give me a servant’s heart so that I can show others your love. Help me to remember your commands and obey them in love and not for show. Holy Spirit, guide me so that I follow you instead of my sinful nature. There are so many times when my spirit is in conflict with my nature. I want to follow what I know is right so that I am not led into sin. Keep me away from sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions envy, drunkenness, orgies, etc. Even if any of these sins become a temptation for me; I pray that I will follow your Spirit and obey your commands. Lord Jesus, I want my life to produce the fruit that comes from you. Give me a spirit of love, a spirit of joy, a spirit of peace, a spirit of patience, a spirit of kindness, a spirit of goodness, a spirit of faithfulness, a spirit of gentleness, and a spirit of self-control. I know that if I live in the Spirit that I will be able to stand firm when temptation crosses my path. I praise you for continuing to help me grow in you. Amen.
