Praying Scripture: 1 John (Ch. 3)

Read: 1 John–Chapter 3

Key Verses: 1 John 3:1, 11, 16, 18 “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him…This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another…This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers…Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

Dear Heavenly Father, I am humbled by your love and I am blessed that you call me your child. I pray that my friends who do not know your love yet will soon be drawn to you. Thank you for continually working in my life to purify me. Lord, I know that I am sinful and that I break your law often. I thank you for sending your son to take my sins away and make me like new. I pray that you will continue to convict me of my sins even the ones that I don’t recognize so that I can continue to make my life more Christlike. I pray that you will help me so that I do not give in to temptation. Help me to live a righteous life so that others will see you in me. I pray that you will send conviction to my friends who do not know you so that they can recognize their need for a savior. Father, teach me how to love others the way that you love them. Thank you, Lord, for keeping hate away from my heart. Help me to live a life of loving others. Lord Jesus, it is hard to imagine having to give up my life for someone. I pray that if I am ever put into that situation; that you will give me the courage to do so. Thank you for all that you have blessed me and my family with and I thank you for the opportunities that you have given me to help others in need. Help me to continue to show others the love of Christ through my actions and not just my words. Help me to obey your word and live my life accordingly. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to pay the price of my sin. And thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to live in me and guide me. Amen.
